The ARS Office is open from 8 AM until 5PM, Monday through Friday, except when the university is closed for holidays. However, we are doing our part to protect the university community by practicing distancing and limiting face-to-face meetings, with appointments continuing to remain in the virtual setting. All appointments and meetings will be held either via Zoom, Yellow Schedule or phone. Please email email@example.com with questions and/or to set-up a meeting. If you received an invitation to discuss accommodations, you may set up a virtual appointment here. Please also feel free to call the main office line at 919-962-8300 and leave a voicemail message with your student name and PID, purpose for calling, and a number and email where you can be reached. ARS will listen to the voicemail and send it to the most appropriate staff member to respond. All voicemails will be returned by the end of the business day or early the next business day, either with a return call or via email. All documentation sent to the office in request of an accommodation must either be emailed or faxed, or the provider can fill out the online Documentation of Disability Form to attach documents.
The deadline to acknowledged the Community Standards and University Guidelines sent out by Carolina Together and the Provost’s office has now passed. If you have not already completed this process, a service indicator has been placed on your account to prevent any registration changes. Please visit ConnectCarolina and complete that Student Acknowledgement process, and the hold will be removed (anticipate a 30-minute turnaround time).
Once again, the ARS Testing Center will be open in a limited capacity. Due to community guidelines on physical distancing and implementation of a cleaning schedule, we are only scheduling up to 6 testers at a time. While we are still formulating details, scheduling will move to a different format including block scheduling (9-11am; 11:30-1:30pm; 2-4pm) and reduced hours of operation to allow for evening cleaning schedules. Instead of using the ARS Hub to schedule exams, requests must be made through use of the Non-Standard Scheduling Request (NSS) form. The NSS form lists the criteria for exams we will be able to proctor. All other requests will be considered on a case-by-case basis, but we are ready to address any questions you may have about scheduling. Students with testing accommodations such as low distraction, extended time, stopped clock, etc., may need to have those accommodations proctored by the instructor or a TA for the course if they have availability. Due to the limited capacity, considerable flexibility will be needed in the scheduling of exams if they are to be taken at the ARS Testing Center.
If you are approved for accommodations such as Supplemental Notes, Alternative Text, Audio Notetaker, CART, etc., please visit https://ars.unc.edu/students/request-forms to make those requests using the appropriate form, paying close attention to the advance notice we require. We would appreciate receiving any such requests as soon as possible so that we can get to work on them. Waiting until the start of classes may result in a delay given the volume of requests we receive.
